By becoming an accredited investor, you can invest in products that are otherwise restricted, such as private placements, venture capital funds, hedge funds and even pre-IPO deals. Some upcoming funds, like Special Situation Funds, allow accredited investors to participate with lower minimum amounts, and GIFT City-based AIFs now permit smaller overseas investments too.
