In India, bank holidays are declared for national events such as Independence Day, Republic Day, and Gandhi Jayanti and also for regional festivals, which vary from state to state.
Fraudsters target SBI customers in mobile number change fraud; bank asks customers to stay alert
Customers are advised to plan their bank work well in advance, particularly those that require visiting a physical branch. However, online and mobile banking services will continue to be available during the holiday period.
Most routine transactions can be handled digitally through mobile banking apps, internet banking, ATMs, and UPI platforms. Customers can check account balances, transfer funds via NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, or UPI, pay bills and EMIs, open or close fixed and recurring deposits, block lost debit or credit cards, request cheque books or statements, and even open new savings accounts through digital KYC.
However, certain services still require a branch visit. These include large cash deposits or withdrawals, demand draft issuance, locker access, signature or KYC updates with physical documents, account or loan closure, settlement of claims in case of a deceased account holder, loan disbursement or foreclosure in some cases, and updating registered mobile numbers or email IDs.
