Well-being rises for Indians, but still falls short of pre-COVID levels: ICICI Lombard survey

72% India’s overall wellness index has gone up by one percentage point in 2025 compared to last year.

Gen Z struggles deepen

Younger cohorts report declines across all six parameters, with falls of 5% or more in physical, financial, workplace and social wellness over last year. It underscores growing pressures of health, economic insecurity and family balance.

Diet & nutrition

Nearly two-thirds of respondents are following a balanced diet, especially Gen X and metro respondents, while those in tier 1 towns lag due to low consistency.

Ownership of health insurance (HI) shows a strong correlation to wellbeing, with people having a health policy scoring higher, especially in financial and family wellness. Among all respondents, 1,259 owned HI and 804 did not.

Workplace pressures

More than seven in 10 Indians believe high-pressure work environments impact the heart, but four in 10 frequently ignore symptoms, dismissing them as stress.
