Kerala government holiday list 2026: State govt offices, banks & other institutions to remain shut on these dates

The Government of Kerala has announced the list of public holidays for its state government employees for the calendar year 2026. The notification, issued under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and aligned with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ guidelines dated June 8, 1957, specifies the days that will be treated as public holidays for banks, government offices, and financial institutions across Kerala.

The order—G.O. (P) No. 15/2025/GAD, dated October 31, 2025, was published in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary by the General Administration (Co-ordination) Department. As per the notification, all Sundays are declared as public holidays, and the following additional dates will also be observed as holidays in Kerala in 2026.

Holidays falling on Sunday

The following festivals fall on public holidays (Sunday) could be avoided from the above list. The branches of banks which work on these days will observe holidays for the same days.

The holidays to the Institutions coming under Labour Law-Industrial Disputes Act, Shops and Commercial Establishment Act, Minimum Wages Act etc., will be governed by the Kerala Industrial Establishments (National and Festival Holidays) Act, 1958, the notification said.
