An intimation under Section 143(1) is sent when the Income Tax Department finds a mismatch or makes an adjustment to your ITR. Abhishek Soni, CEO & Co-Founder, Tax2win, explains how to respond:
Review the intimation: Log in to the IT portal, download it, and compare it with your return.
Identify the issue: Check the “As per return filed” vs “As per department” columns to spot mismatches in TDS, income, or deductions.
Agree or disagree: If you agree, pay any additional tax. If you disagree, proceed to respond online.
Submit response: Go to Income Tax Portal → e-Proceedings → e-Assessment/Proceedings → select the notice → Submit response.
